DRAG

There are very few discussions about drag queens in Chinese social media. I found drag-related entries in an app that young people would like to use. I found many Chinese drag queens. I found that each of them had a different style of drag. Some were retro, some were fashionable, some were cute. They were happy to show themselves in their everyday life and would dress up and take pictures in the street or in shops. This piqued my interest.

Drag queens often give their drag another name, saying: "Crossdressing is not necessarily because we identify as female or anything, it's just because she's another side of my personality. We don't put any setting on drag". This statement made me think that there is always diversity in the process of finding and discovering oneself, and that there is not just one side to a person. I noticed that cross-dressing allows people to identify with diverse values.

This tangent got me thinking, would having drag happen in the lives of ordinary people help us explore ourselves more? I did an experiment with friends around me...
